Purchase > Ordered Feature
Use the Purchase Greater Than Ordered feature to purchase more of a
selected item than was originally ordered. This is useful if the item you are
purchasing is ordered quite often, or if the vendor requires a specific
minimum order. For example, you may not normally stock many lawn
mowers, but several orders are usually placed for them during the spring. In
anticipation of additional orders for this item, you may want to order more
than the quantity desired by one customer, and keep some in stock. When
you access this feature, the Purchase > Ordered window opens. You need
only enter the new quantity, up to six digits, to purchase for the selected
item.
You can use this feature to change the quantity on the same purchase order
line more than once, as long as the new quantity you enter each time is
greater than or equal to the quantity of the original order. This does not
mean that the new quantity you enter must necessarily be greater than the
current purchase order quantity. You may enter a new quantity to purchase
that is less than the current purchase order quantity, but it must still be
greater than or equal to the original order quantity.
For example, assume that an original order has been entered for 15 bags of
peat moss. Since you anticipate several orders for peat moss in the next
week, you use the Purchase > Ordered feature to increase the purchase
order quantity to 50 bags. However, upon further thought, you decide you
really don't need to purchase 50 bags; 40 bags is enough. Use this feature
again to enter a new purchase order quantity of 40, which is less than the
quantity of 50 entered earlier, but still greater than the original order
quantity of 15.
