Use the pre-header portion for entry of information that is likely to be the
same for a number of purchase orders you enter during one session, while
the main header portion contains information pertaining to each purchase
order built.
For example, you may sit down to enter several purchase orders that will be
the same type, for the same location, for the same buyer, and the same date.
Preferences can be set in such a way to enable the pre-header fields to
automatically display the desired values for each of the purchase orders you
intend to build, eliminating the need to enter them each time.
Both portions of the Purchase Order Header screen are discussed in detail in
this section. After entering the information in both portions, the cursor
moves to the Purchase Order Lines screen (unless you are building a
purchase order for a cooperative buying service company such as HWI or
TruServ. Refer to “Purchase Orders for Cooperative Vendors” later in this
chapter for more information.)
You may exit the Purchase Order Entry program at any time. However, you
should be aware that doing so without saving the information causes any
information you have entered to be lost.
