Importing From a Buy
Buys are optional software. Your company must have
purchased this optional software in order to use this feature.
Buys are lists of items that are offered at reduced prices to customers,
generally contractors, who want to order materials in bulk for the purpose of
lowering purchasing costs. They are created using the Buy Maintenance
program in the Price Management module. Every time you create a buy, you
must also create a purchase order specifically for it, entering the reduced
prices your vendor will sell the items to you. This allows you to sell the items
at low prices to your customers, and still achieve the same gross profit as
when selling these items at their standard retail price. Refer to the Price
Management manual for details about entering and maintaining buys on your
system.
Use the Import From Buy feature in Purchase Order Entry to import an
existing buy into the current purchase order, for placing a special order with
the vendor for the items on the buy. This feature is only accessible from the
Purchase Order Lines screen.
To import a buy, select Import from a buy from the Utilities pull-down menu
on the Purchase Order Lines screen. The Buy Selection window opens listing
the name of every buy that has been created using the Buy Maintenance
program. Select the buy to import from those displayed.
When you select a buy, the Line Number Range window opens displaying the
name of the buy you chose. It also displays the default line number range
beginning with line 1 and ending with the maximum line number in the buy.
You can accept the default line number range or enter a different range of
lines to import from the buy if you do not want to import all the items. The
line numbers you enter must correspond to existing lines on the buy, and the
ending line number of the range must be the same as or greater than the
beginning line number.
Copy from a PO
Use this feature to copy lines from an existing purchase order into a new
purchase order. This feature is similar to the Copy Order/Quote feature in
Transaction Entry. This feature is useful when you want to repeatedly order
the same items but change the quantity ordered each time.
