
Once the item code has been entered, the item description is displayed in the
Description column, and the cursor moves to the PO Qty column.
Additionally, if a value for the cost is held in the item/vendor record for this
item, that cost is displayed in the Cost column. This information is also
displayed in the line detail window if you are using the split screen.
Some items that are established on your system have special considerations
that must be taken into consideration when these items are entered on a
purchase order. The table below lists some special types of items that you
may be entering on purchase orders, and the special considerations you must
make for them. Refer to your Primary File Administration manual for more
information about the different types of items that can be established on your
system.

Assembly items
Only types 2 and 0 can be entered on a purchase
order.
Common items Cannot be entered on a purchase order.
Miscellaneous items
Must be entered using the line detail window.
Vendor information may also be entered, regardless
of whether these fields are enabled on the screen
you are using.
No item/vendor record
Must be entered using the line detail window.
Vendor information may also be entered, regardless
of whether these fields are enabled on the screen
you are using.
Nonstock items
Must be entered using the line detail window.
Vendor information may also be entered, regardless
of whether these fields are enabled on the screen
you are using.
Special order items
Must be entered using the line detail window.
Vendor information may also be entered, regardless
of whether these fields are enabled on the screen
you are using.
Tally items
Tally header items and tally individual items can be
entered on a purchase order.
When a tally header item is purchased, the tally
individuals are specified when the item is received.
