Electric Starter
Determinethatyour home'swiringisathree-wiregroundedsystem.
Aska licensedelectricianif youarenot certain.
If youhavea groundedthree-prongreceptacle,proceedas follows:
1. Plugtheextensioncordintotheoutletlocatedontheengine's
surface.Plugtheotherendof extensioncordintoa three-prong
120-volt,grounded,ACoutletinawell-ventilatedareaSeeFigure11.

2. Pushthechokeleverto the CHOKEIJl position.

3. If theengineis warm,placethe chokeinthe RUNI _position
insteadofCHOKEIII.
4. Pushthe primerthree(3) times,makingsureto coverthe vent
holewhenpushing.
5. If theengineis warm,pushthe primerbuttononly once.
6. Pushstarterbuttonto start engine.
7. Oncethe enginestarts,releasestarterbutton.
8. Allowtheengineto warmup severalminutes,adjustingchoke

towardRUN| _position.Waituntil enginerunssmoothlybefore
eachchokeadjustment.
9. Whendisconnectingthe extensioncord,alwaysunplugthe end
at the three-prongwalloutletbeforeunpluggingthe oppositeend
fromthe snowthrower.
Recoil Starter
1. Pushthe chokeleverto the CHOKEIJi position.

2. Iftheengineis warm,placethe chokein the RUNI _position

insteadofCHOKEIII.
3. Pushthe primerthree(3) times,makingsureto coverthe vent
holewhenpushing.
4. Iftheengineis warm,pushthe primerbuttononlyonce.
5. Graspthe recoilstarterhandleandslowlypullthe ropeout. At
the pointwhereit becomesslightlyharderto pullthe rope,slowly
allowthe ropeto recoil.
6. Pullthestarterhandlewitha firm, rapidstroke.Do not release
the handleandallow it to snapback. Keepafirm holdon the
starterhandleandallow it to slowlyrecoil.
7. Allowthe engineto warmupseveralminutes,adjustingchoke

towardRUN| _position.Waituntilenginerunssmoothlybefore
eachchokeadjustment.
STOPPING THE ENGINE
1. Runthe enginefor a fewminutesbeforestoppingto helpdry off
any moistureonthe engine.
2. To stopthe engineremovethe keyand storeit in a safeplace.
3. Wipeall the snowandmoistureawayfromthe enginecontrols
area.
burn. Becarefulanddonot touchwhen hot.
ENGAGING THE AUGER
Engagethe augerby squeezingtheaugercontrolagainstthe upper
handle.Releasethe controlto stopthe auger.
ENGAGING THE DRIVE
Liftup slightlyonthe handleto allowthe rubberpaddlesonthe auger
to contactthe pavementand propelthe snowthrowerforward.Pushing
downwardonthe handlewill raisethe augeroff the groundandstop
the forwardmotion.
NOTE:Excessiveupwardpressureonthe handlewill resultin
prematurewearto the rubberaugerpaddles,whichwill notbecovered
bythe warranty.
CLEARING A CLOGGED DISCHARGE CHUTE
Handcontactwiththe rotatingimpellerinsidethe dischargechute
isthe mostcommoncauseof injuryassociatedwithsnowthrowers.
Neveruseyourhandto cleanoutthe dischargechute.
Toclear thechute:
1. SHUTTHEENGINEOFF!
2. Wait 10secondsto be surethe impellerbladeshavestopped
rotating.
3. Alwaysusea clean-outtool or stick,notyour hands.
